Low taxes give south Orange County an advantage
Orange County is well known for the anti-tax sentiments of its voters and a review of tax policies in four key south county cities bears this out. Costa Mesa, Irvine, Newport Beach and Mission Viejo all have, at most, nominal taxes on businesses. In the 2000 Kosmont Cost of Doing Business Survey-National Online Edition , all four communities received the very low cost rating. Even though Mission Viejo has quite high property taxes, its other business taxes are so low - in fact, there aren't
