Luxury automaker sues insurer over cars lost to hurricane

Fisker Automotive Inc. sued its insurance company for denying a $33 million claim for 338 luxury hybrid sports sedans submerged by Hurricane Sandy.

Anaheim-based high-end automaker Fisker Automotive Inc. has sued its insurance company for rejecting a claim over 338 luxury cars destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. The electric hybrid Karma-model sedans, valued at about $33 million, were submerged in more than five feet of seawater at a New Jersey shipping facility when the storm hit on Oct. 29, according to the lawsuit, filed in state court in Manhattan.
