California judicial nominations die in the old Senate, and the president re-nominates them

When the gavel slammed down on the 112th Senate Thursday, 33 judicial nominees - including two in needy California districts - were left stranded. President Barack Obama re-nominated all of them later in the day.

When the gavel slammed down on the 112th Senate Thursday, 33 judicial nominees - including two in needy California districts - were left stranded.


The group included 11 would-be jurists already approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, some who had been waiting for a confirmation vote for more than six months.
