A federal law going into effect in January may cause a big headache for California law firms that accept credit card payments from clients.


Beginning Jan. 1, the Internal Revenue Service will penalize businesses that accept credit cards for payment if their tax identification information on file with the IRS does not exactly match the information held by credit card companies processing the payments....
