Judge preliminarily approves $1.3 billion settlement in Toyota litigation

A federal judge Friday gave preliminary approval to an estimated $1.3 billion settlement in a class-action lawsuit involving allegations of unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles.


U.S. District Court Judge James V. Selna indicated he would approve the deal between Toyota Motor Corp. and a class of current and former Toyota owners that could wind up covering more than 19 million people.
