Jury Awards $425,000 to Child Molested by His Foster Father

LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles jury has awarded $425,000 to a child, Ronald C., who was molested by his foster father. The panel, in its verdict Thursday, found Los Angeles County liable for 30 percent of the award, or $162,000, because social workers failed to report earlier complaints that the foster father had molested another child. Collins v. County of Los Angeles, BC218877 (L.A. Super. Ct., filed Oct. 21, 1999).
