San Bernardino recall fight reaches the courtroom

A residents group sued San Bernardino's city clerk this week after she refused to accept many of its signatures for a recall of City Attorney James Penman and Mayor Patrick Morris, saying they were collected improperly.

In the wake of San Bernardino's bankruptcy filing, efforts have emerged to unseat those who led the city during its financial crisis. Since the municipality filed for Chapter 9 protection last year, a political action committee has been working to recall many of the city's top officials, including Mayor Pat Morris and City Attorney James Penman.
