Law firm offers services to veterans at San Diego event
Attorneys from DLA Piper provided legal services and other assistance at the 25th annual Stand Down for Homeless Veterans in San Diego. The event, held July 12-14, provides critical services to homeless veterans. About 44 DLA Piper attorneys and staff volunteered, providing a range of services to more than a hundred veterans. At a communications tent, a project created by DLA Piper, volunteers helped veterans locate loved ones and identify facilities for veterans to call and write to them. Participants also provided free legal services at an expungement clinic to determine whether veterans are eligible to have their criminal records expunged. The firm's support of the event was part of a broader pro bono project, Serving Those Who Serve Our Country, aimed at providing legal and community engagement to veterans and active duty military personnel. — Ben Adlin
