Irish pharmaceutical company will pay $3.5 million to settle fraud claims

The U.S. attorney's office in San Francisco announced Thursday that the Irish pharmaceutical company Mallinckrodt plc will pay $3.5 million to settle fraud claims.

The U.S. attorney's office in San Francisco announced Thursday that the pharmaceutical company Mallinckrodt plc will pay $3.5 million to settle fraud claims. Prosecutors alleged the Irish company paid doctors to encourage them to prescribe company medications, which led to the filing of false Medicare and Medicaid claims between 2005 and 2010.
