Chen Confirmed for District Court Seat

The Senate confirmed U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward M. Chen to be a district court judge in San Francisco on Tuesday, more than 21 months after the White House first announced his nomination.

WASHINGTON - The Senate on Tuesday confirmed U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward M. Chen to be a district court judge in San Francisco, more than 21 months after the White House first announced his nomination.


The confirmation came on a 56-42 vote, with four Republicans crossing the aisle to support him.


Republicans long opposed Chen's nomination, forcing him to go back through the Judiciary ...
