The recent revelation that Peter Thiel, one of Silicon Valley's most prominent investors, financed Hulk Hogan's legal costs in a privacy lawsuit against Gawker has many in the legal community asking, "is this a good thing?" Thiel's talent for picking winners in technology (i.e., PayPal, Facebook, etc.), it seems, means picking winners in litigation.
