Panel Upholds Conviction Despite Bad Defense

LOS ANGELES - A Court of Appeal panel on Thursday upheld a home-invasion robbery, burglary, murder and arson conviction, even though the defendant made a valid point: His attorney failed to defend him properly when he refused to give closing arguments at trial.
