Imposing Rote Declaration of Piety Is Wrong

Letter to the Editor - As one who has suffered silently the earlier response of the off-key choral renditions of "America the Beautiful" by the ultra-"patriotic" members of Congress and others, standing in solemn prayer and then fervent song, leaving no doubt as to their devotion to country and God, all in response to the judicial ruling deleting "God" from the "Pledge of Allegiance," I had thought the issue to be at rest.
