Lawyers Should View Scientific Evidence With Critical Eye

Thompson - On Sept. 1, the FBI announced that it was discontinuing the use of Comparative Bullet Lead Analysis, a forensic technique that has been used in criminal investigations since the 1960s. Because the FBI Laboratory was the only one in the United States that performed such analysis, its decision effectively kills the technique - at least for now.
