Health Union Rift Continues

Incumbent labor union Service Employees International Union bested its rival, National Union of Healthcare Workers, in a an election for the representational rights of 43,000 Kaiser workers in California.

Incumbent labor union Service Employees International Union bested its rival, National Union of Healthcare Workers, in a an election for the representational rights of 43,000 Kaiser workers in California. Though SEIU won 18,290 to 11,364, NUHW officials said they are pushing for a new election, accusing SEIU and Kaiser of illegal campaign tactics. Election results were announced Thursday.
