Forum Column - By Jeff Kichaven - A consulting group in the State Bar for alternative dispute resolution has undertaken a project to develop criteria to certify lawyers as specialists in alternative dispute resolution. It's an effort that must be stopped. It is inappropriate for the State Bar to try to regulate mediators and arbitrators. It's not necessary to protect the public, the bar or anybody else.
