Lawyers gather to spotlight women in legal profession
Joan Williams, professor at UC Hastings College of the Law and author of "What Works for Women at Work," delivered a rousing keynote speech to a roomful of attorneys at the annual California Women Lawyers conference in Los Angeles on May 16. She addressed gender bias problems encountered by women in the legal profession and provided strategies for thriving in high-powered careers. Alameda Superior Court Judge Victoria Kolakowski, the first openly transgender trial judge in the U.S., was also honored as a "Pioneer in the Law."
