Panel Puts Reporting Duty on Prosecutors
SAN FRANCISCO - If the federal government requires judges to report to the U.S. Sentencing Commission whenever one of their prison sentences drops below federal guidelines, then the judges can delegate the paperwork of compiling the reports to federal prosecutors, a federal appeals court ruled Friday.
