SANTA ANA - Irvine lawyer Gerald L. Wolfe goes on trial today for allegedly pocketing $2 million by buying 30 homes using falsified mortgage documents.


In the wake of the economic collapse, many observers - including state attorneys general and federal investigators - have said that banks and Wall Street share blame for the real estate meltdown for making mortgages too easy to obtain.
