Sony BMG Used Payola to Fend Off Competitors, Lawsuit Says

LOS ANGELES - Two Los Angeles attorneys have filed an antitrust suit against Sony in federal court, accusing the music industry giant of using payola, the illegal practice of paying radio stations to give their artists more airtime, to crowd out small independent record companies, such as plaintiff TSR Records Inc.
