PG&E reaches $29.5 million settlement over forest fires
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and its contractors will pay $29.5 million to settle claims over their role in two major fires that swept through Northern California forests in 2004, the U.S. Attorney’s office announced Thursday.

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and its contractors will pay $29.5 million to settle claims over their role in two major fires that swept through Northern California forests in 2004, the U.S. Attorney's office announced Thursday.
The fires burned 7,600 acres in the Eldorado, Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests after trees hit transmission lines while PG&E contractors were working.
