Prosecutors offer new deal to embattled trial lawyer in case

A new settlement shows the Los Angeles U.S. Attorney's office once again sweetening the terms of their misdemeanor plea deal with Pierce O'Donnell after a judge overseeing the case threw up roadblocks.

LOS ANGELES - More community service and far less jail time. Those are the basic terms of a new deal federal prosecutors have struck to settle charges that prominent trial attorney Pierce O'Donnell illegally funneled campaign contributions in 2003.
