SAN JOSE - A federal judge has thrown out some of the trade secrets theft allegations brought in Cadence Design Systems' civil lawsuit against Avant Corp. - a ruling that threatens to complicate Santa Clara County prosecutors' attempts to convict the company on similar charges.
