Off the Beaten Path

By Linda G. Mills Ruth Phariss was beaten by her husband because she spoke to a male waiter or took her girls to the movies. She didn't know he was molesting her daughter Cindy. Ellen Peel's husband threw her from moving cars, assaulted her with a gun and impregnated their 12-year-old daughter. Brenda Aris endured years of beatings and death threats from her husband Rick, who once put their 10-month-old baby out on the porch at 3 a.m. because of a leaky diaper.
