Judge Reduces Verdict Against GM by $3.8B
A judge Thursday reduced a $4.9 billion punitive damage award against General Motors Corp. to nearly $1.1 billion, ruling that the original jury verdict was excessive - but that the car manufacturer jeopardized the safety of people by putting profits first.
