Judge Orders Protection for Endangered Bird

A federal judge has ruled that federal authorities must move quickly to protect the habitat of a threatened California coastal songbird. In his ruling last week, U.S. District Judge Stephen V. Wilson sharply criticized federal authorities for their tactics in opposing a lawsuit by environmental groups that sought to protect the coastal gnatcatcher.
