Judges Dump Death Verdicts Of 100 Inmates

LOS ANGELES - A federal appeals court ruling Tuesday reversed 100 death sentences in Arizona, Idaho and Montana. In an 8-3 decision, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said a 2002 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that juries, not judges, must sentence defendants to die applies retroactively.
