Lasting Impressions

Take the best law firm leaders, the state’s longest-sitting jurist and trailblazers in race, gender and sexuality. Add a few history buffs and the man most responsible for restoring downtown Los Angeles. Then mix in a handful of colorful personalities, two stalwarts for civil rights, even a Democrat in Orange County, and you begin to sum up 25 individuals whose deaths in 2002 reminded us of the indelible marks their lives left on the legal community.
