School district settles child-abuse claims

The Brentwood Union School District agreed to pay $950,000 to settle allegations by a Contra Costa family that a Loma Vista Elementary School teacher attacked their 5-year-old child.

The Brentwood Union School District agreed last Friday to pay $950,000 to settle allegations by a Contra Costa family that Loma Vista Elementary School teacher Dina Holder attacked their 5-year-old child, a student in Holder's special education class.

The family claimed Holder pulled the child from his chair, berated him with profanity and kicked him twice while he lay on the ground in front of his classmates.
