Ruling May Preserve State Redevelopment Funds

Judge will decide whether a $1.7 billion payment is due to the state prior to the May 10 deadline.

California's redevelopment agencies expect to know in the coming weeks whether they will be forced to pay an additional $1.7 billion in early May to help balance the state budget - a development that critics say would be a crushing blow to revitalization efforts across the state.
