Judge rejects Uber motions in driverless car case

A federal judge on Wednesday rejected Uber Technologies Inc.'s bid for a stay while it appeals a lawsuit by an Alphabet Inc. subsidiary over driverless car technology, and also revealed that the company lost a major discovery battle last week.

SAN FRANCISCO — A U.S. judge on Wednesday rejected Uber Technologies Inc.'s bid for a stay while it appeals a lawsuit by an Alphabet Inc. subsidiary over driverless car technology, and also revealed that the company lost a major discovery battle last week.

The case stems from Anthony Levandowski's alleged theft of 14,000 documents related to Waymo LLC's technology....
