Costa Mesa Settles Suit Over Dead Pit Bull for $225,000

SANTA ANA - Some missing pants and a recorded-over audio tape pushed the city of Costa Mesa to pay $225,000 to a family whose dog had been shot to death by police.

      The city contends the dog, a black pit bull named Paul, bit Officer Eric Wisener in the thigh, which is why Wisener and partner Jeff Graham shot the dog 15 times.<...
