As the State Bar redoubles its efforts to collect costs assessed to disciplined attorneys, the unpaid tab has risen to $8.5 million owed by 1,300 people.
The outstanding costs stem from State Bar Court cases dating back to 2006, and the attorneys owe an average of $6,538.
