Former FBI director chosen as Volkswagen settlement master

Former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III has been tentatively tapped to guide settlement negotiations of hundreds of lawsuits stemming from Volkswagen's rigging of emissions tests for their diesel vehicles.

Former FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III has been tentatively tapped to guide settlement negotiations of hundreds of lawsuits stemming from Volkswagen's rigging of emissions tests for their diesel vehicles.

U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer named Mueller, 71, a Washington, D.C. partner with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, as settlement master in an order issued Monday.
