Ex-Officer Acquitted of Drug Charges

A former state narcotics officer facing a host of drug and money-laundering charges was convicted Friday only on tax charges. The federal court jury acquitted the former officer, Richard Wayne Parker, on three charges of drug and money-laundering charges, deadlocking by a 10-to-1 vote for acquittal on three other charges stemming from the burglary of 295 kilos of cocaine from the evidence locker at the Riverside state narcotics bureau office where he worked, along with two other drug charges.
