Geneva Towers Owners Prevail In Battle for Refund Claim

SAN FRANCISCO - Tax collectors take heed: If you ignore a refund claim, it could come back to haunt you years later. That's the message the California Supreme Court sent Thursday as the justices unanimously ruled that an apartment building owner who disputed a tax assessment in 1991 is free to pursue a refund claim in court more than seven years later because San Francisco tax collectors never responded to the original claim.
