Former Defender Brings Empathy to Bench

SAN MARTIN - Judge Susan Bernardini has taken an unorthodox path to a seat on the Santa Clara Superior Court. The early 1980s found her a 30-something mother of three nearing graduation from the University of California, Santa Cruz, facing a career decision.
