Big Cardboard Cutout Earns Lawyer Victory
SANTA ANA - A 6-foot, 2-inch cardboard cutout of a lawyer beat out Republican Otto Bade for the 69th District Assembly seat Tuesday. The surprise? That it wasn't a surprise. Democrats hold a 20 percent registration edge in the district, which is centered in Santa Ana - enough to give Tom Umberg a comfortable win, even though the candidate has been out of the country for months.
