Divisive Comment Undermines Public Confidence in Judiciary

The comment "Who Really Runs the Judicial Branch" by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Maryanne G. Gilliard (Mar. 15) struck an unproductive tone that will not improve already-strained relations between judicial administrators and some trial judges. The comment paints prominent jurists who serve on the Judicial Council as petty and power-hungry.
