Company Acquires Hitachi Subsidiary

Irvine-based hard-drive maker Western Digital Corp. agreed to buy competitor Hitachi Global Storage Technologies in a cash and stock transaction valued at $4.3 billion, one of California's largest in 2011.

Irvine-based hard-drive maker Western Digital Corp. announced Monday its agreement with Hitachi Ltd. to scoop up subsidiary Hitachi Global Storage Technologies in a cash and stock transaction valued at $4.3 billion.
