Justice's retirement a bittersweet moment for appellate court

Associate Justice Betty A. Richli, a long-time judge for the District Court of Appeal in Riverside, is retiring, the presiding justice announced Tuesday.

RIVERSIDE - Justice Betty A. Richli, a longtime judgeon the 4th District Court of Appeal, is retiring.


Justice Manuel A. Ramirez made the announcement Tuesday before the day's cases were heard. All seven justices of Division 2 were in attendance.


Ramirez called it a bittersweet moment and lauded Richli as the most rare of judges - one who decides cases from her head and her heart.
