Judge in Stockton case refuses to delay plan

Federal bankruptcy judge Christopher Klein on Tuesday denied a motion by Stockton's lone dissenting creditor, Franklin Templeton Investments, to block the city's recently approved bankruptcy plan for going into effect.

SACRAMENTO - The judge overseeing Stockton's bankruptcy on Tuesday shot down a lone creditor's last-ditch effort to stall the city's debt repayment plan. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Klein's ruling means the city will likely start making payments on its newly restructured debt in February - a bookend moment marking a return to normal after a two-and-a-half year bankruptcy ordeal.
