A year after Farmers Group Inc. was accused of paying its female attorneys substantially less than male colleagues and preventing their advancement, the company agreed Thursday to pay $4 million to about 300 in-house lawyers, make attorney compensation figures readily available, and substantially increase the number of women promoted to top salary grades over the next three years.
