Appeals Court rules for USC student in sex assault charges case

An appellate court overturned a suspension tied to sexual assault allegations for insufficient evidence and an unfair hearing.

In a major victory for critics of campus sexual assault disciplinary proceedings, a state court of appeals unanimously overturned a suspension tied to gang rape allegations brought against a student through the University of Southern California's internal system, finding on Tuesday that the school's hearing was unfair and relied on insufficient evidence.
