Alaska Air to buy Virgin America for $2.6B

Deal will create the fifth largest air carrier in the US. O'Melveny & Myers LLP advised Alaska and Latham & Watkins LLP advised Virgin America

In a move that will create the country's fifth largest air carrier, Alaska Air Group Inc. announced Monday that it plans to buy Virgin America Inc. for $2.6 billion.

An O'Melveny & Myers LLP deal team advised Alaska Air and Latham & Watkins LLP is handling the transaction for Virgin, the brainchild of business magnate Richard Branson.
