DOJ hits SF hedge fund with $19M suit

ValueAct Capital accused of playing both sides in pending Halliburton-Baker Hughes merger.

The Department of Justice slapped a San Francisco-based hedge fund with a civil lawsuit Monday, saying ValueAct Capital LLC was too slack in reporting its role in two oil industry giants after securing $2.5 billion in shares of the companies, which announced their plans to merge in November 2014.
