Brandishing A Toy Gun Is Illegal Even if It's Just a Joke

SAN FRANCISCO - Fake guns can scare anyone who sees them, including bystanders, a unanimous Sacramento appellate panel concluded Tuesday. As a result, a youth who brandished a replica pistol at a friend in a school yard - alarming an office manager, who saw the incident through a window - broke the law even though the friend was unafraid.
