LOS ANGELES - The state's judicial watchdog agency Tuesday opened a formal inquiry into allegations that a former Los Angeles Superior Court judge tried to strong-arm a police officer and other judicial officers into fixing traffic tickets for his friends and intervened in a drunken driving case against his campaign manager.
