I looked at my BlackBerry (see "My Berry & Me," Verdicts & Settlements, March 14, 2001), my tiny portable wireless e-mail device, and tried to figure out who had sent the message. I didn't have a clue. The sender appeared as "8184867009." An unusual e-mail address. My interest piqued, I typed, "what's 'it'?"
