Commissioner Keeps Cool on Bench

INDIO - Commissioner Ronald G. Lorden doesn't like to embarrass attorneys. To avoid making an out-of-town lawyer look scatterbrained in front of his client recently, Lorden called the attorney into the hallway, out of earshot of the courtroom, and told him he'd filled out the wrong plea form for a drunken-driving case.
